Capitol Park Leskovac, a EUR 10M retail real estate investment in Leskovac led by British “Poseidon Group” and Belgian “Mitiska REIM“, opened on 9 May. The plot of 16,500 sqm and 6,500 sqm of retail space is situated in the city centre, on 28 March street, next to a densely populated residential zone with access to the E75 highway.

Celebrations at the first modern retail park in Leskovac were attended by the mayor of Leskovac, Goran Cvetanovic, and other city officials, as well as retailer representatives.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of our fourth retail park in Serbia.  Poseidon has been present in Serbia for more than a decade as a commercial real estate investor, developer and asset manager, and in the past five years alone, we have opened Capitol Parks in Sabac, Sombor and Belgrade.  As well as Leskovac, we will also open in Zajecar later this month,” said James Gunn, Poseidon Group corporate affairs director.

Mayor Cvetanovic said that Leskovac is now becoming known for cranes, construction sites and investment.  He added that Serbia is on the right path, with the project in Leskovac generating up to 200 new retail roles to help improve employment opportunities in the city.

Sixteen well known Serbian and international brands, among which are Deichmann, Exclusive exchange, Gigatron, Intersport, Koton, LC Waikiki Lilly, Maxi hypermarket, Moka café, N Sport, Nefa, Opposite shoes, Pertini, Sinsay, Telenor and Top Shop, opened their doors.

Maxi enters Leskovac for the first time as part of the Capitol Park retail scheme.  “We are pleased that our sales network is expanding. Opening of the Maxi supermarket within Capitol Park is an opportunity to become even closer to our customers in Leskovac and in that way enables our customers to find everything they need for their home and family in one location. Our products include a wide range of food and other household items, always fresh produce, and of course favourable prices and exquisite service for which our supermarkets are famous,” said Milica Popovic, corporate communications manager at Delhaize Serbia.

During the day, visitors enjoyed great discounts and in-store promotions as well as a variety of entertainments in the retail park. Local cultural centre performances and a concert by the Tropico band was followed by fireworks which concluded the day’s activities.
